  • Jhajjar Power Plant is a 1,320 MW (2 x 660 MW) coal based power project located at Village Khanpur, Dist. Jhajjar, Haryana
  • It is one of India's first and largest supercritical coal-fired power plant
  • One of the first major projects in India to be financed by a consortium of foreign banks
  • Construction started in 2009 and the first unit was synchronized exactly 36 months later. The second 660MW unit was synchronized in April 2012. The Plant was commissioned in July 2012
Sustainability highlights
  • Use of the supercritical technology has helped increase energy efficiency and thereby reduced carbon emissions. This is in line with CLP's Climate Vision 2050, which targets reduction in carbon intensity by 75% across its operations in Asia-Pacific by 2050
  • CLP India regularly engages all its stakeholders including contractors, project managers, workmen and supervisors to adhere to safety measures. Every year the Jhajjar Power Plant also celebrates National Safety Day on 5th March to mark the foundation of National Safety Council of India (NSCI)
  • Various community engagement activities are initiated around the plant that primarily focus on core areas such as education, health, women empowerment, livelihood restoration and environment awareness
  • At present, 174 hectares (approx.) have been developed under the green belt zone covering ~ 35% of total area, which is beyond the legal compliance requirement of 33%. In the short span of just four years, over 3,30,000 native saplings have been planted
